What Is a Comprehensive Plan and Why Is It Important?
Have you ever wondered how County initiatives start, such as the Norge Depot relocation, the making of the Capital Trail, or the development of New Town? The answer is frequently the Comprehensive Plan.
The Comprehensive Plan is a planning document which guides infrastructure, development, County policies and public services over the next 10 to 20 years. This document, reviewed and adopted by the Board of Supervisors, is the County’s long-range vision plan. It defines and articulates what the community is striving to become. During the Comprehensive Plan update, County staff will reach out to the community through public meetings and surveys where citizens, businesses and community leaders can share their ideas for the County. This is an exciting time for the entire community to realize how their voice matters.
