Enjoy Fine Dining Locally

We love reading reviews of places and we checked our favorite spots (TripAdvisor and Yelp!) and came up with a few suggestions for fine dining in James City County. Whether you have a special occasion to celebrate or you are just feeling fancy, check out these restaurants for a quality meal.

Café Provencal is located at the Williamsburg Winery and offers a variety of different options for fine dining including special menus for holidays and even special events. At the Café Provencal, Executive Chef Ian Robbins aims to showcase the bounty of Virginia farms, to create a true farm-to-farm dining experience when he adds fresh produce grown at Wessex Hundred. Café Provencal has wine pairings for many of their dishes, which is sure to be a unique experience. For reservations, please call 757-941-0317.

Tips:

  • The Williamsburg Winery is currently offering a Creole-inspired tasting menu on Tuesdays by Chef de Cuisine Troy Buckley. It sounds delicious – to learn more about the menu, visit the Winery’s blog post.
  • There’s an online deal that includes a tour, wine tasting and tasting dinner.
  • Café Provencal is closed on Mondays.

Captain George’s Seafood Buffet is a local franchise with four locations in the Hampton Roads region. The Williamsburg location opened in 1985 and is listed in the Top 12 All-You-Can-Eat Seafood Buffets in America! The buffet includes more than 70 items including Alaskan snow crab legs and fresh, steamed shrimp. There are non-seafood items available as well. The adult buffet cost is $34.99 per person for adults. Beverages are an additional cost. Children aged 5-12 are $18.99. Many reviews note the plentiful buffet and the value for the price.

Tips:

  • The last seating for the buffet is at 8:30 p.m.
  • On Sundays, the buffet is discounted from noon until 4 p.m. to $31.99.
  • Reservations are accepted for groups of 10 or more.

Opus 9 Steakhouse is located in New Town Williamsburg and has earned multiple Certificates of Excellence from TripAdvisor. The menu offers a variety of surf and turf options and they often have specials for holidays such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and the holidays. Many reviews note the excellent chateaubriand for two. Their dessert menu is to die for with everyone’s favorites including key lime pie, house-made New York style cheesecake, tiramisu, crème brulee and even a molten chocolate cake served with ice cream.  There is a large list of wines and craft cocktails. Tips:    

  • There is a private dining room that is available for groups including wedding rehearsals.
  • They have a $10 lunch menu that’s a steal!
  • They have a great brunch buffet on Sundays.
