Enjoy Paddleboard Yoga at Gordon’s Greek on Friday, May 26 from 8:30-9:45 a.m. The first five minutes of this 75-minute class is dedicated to teaching participants how to properly use the paddleboard and paddle. You’ll be guided through a 60-minute yoga sequence to challenge your core strength, balance, skills and help center your focus. The annual Food & Wine Festival kicks off at Busch Gardens this weekend! A tasty adventure awaits culinary explorers at Busch Gardens® Food & Wine Festival. Busch Gardens invites guests to unleash their inner foodie with a variety of dishes and wines not normally served at the park. Enjoy authentic tastes from around the world while strolling through the world’s most beautiful theme park. Individual sampling portions and wine tastings, available for purchase in the park, create the recipe for a delicious experience each visit. New this year, cuisines from India, which will bring new tantalizing flavors to the Busch Gardens Food & Wine Festival. May 26 - July 2, Fridays - Sundays.

Did you know that Charly’s Airport Restaurant is now open on Fridays from 5-8:30 p.m. for Friday Night Flights featuring live music on the patio and specials? It’s a fun, easy way to cap off a busy week. Plus, everyone deserves a slice of pie on a Friday night!

Enjoy Movies Under the Stars at Chickahominy Riverfront Park on Friday, May 26 at 8:30 p.m. at Chickahominy Riverfront Park. Enjoy an outdoor movie under the stars! Bring lawn chairs, blankets and snacks. All ages welcome. Children 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Movie subject to change. Weather permitting. The film is Brave (PG).

Join Jamestown Crossfit every Saturday at 9 a.m. for an open (and free) workout. Previous CrossFit experience is not required and all fitness levels are welcome. Jamestown CrossFit is an instruction-based, performance training facility that opened its doors in June 2015. They offer class based fitness, centered on the CrossFit methodology. Have the kids join Make a Pet Rock with the Williamsburg Botanical Garden on Saturday, May 27 from 10-11 a.m. This program, designed for children ages 6 and above, will prove to the world that pet rocks rock! Come to the Interpretive Center and learn how to change an ordinary rock into something special. Tina Deaver will show you how to make a whimsical creation out of an ordinary rock. You may bring your own special rock or find one in our rock pile. Space is limited to 20 children. Please register by emailing wbgkids@gmail.com.

Saturday is opening day at James City County outdoor pools! It’s time to kick off summer! Come out to one of our two outdoor pools to celebrate the start of the season. Door prizes given each hour between 1-4 p.m. Outdoor pools are located at Chickahominy Riverfront Park & Upper County Park. Pool fees apply.

Karaoke in the Park at Chickahominy Riverfront Park is on Saturday, May 27 from 7-9 p.m. Sing the night away while enjoying the park! All ages welcome. 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Weather permitting. This event is free.

Head to MillFarm Christmas Tree & Berry Farm for some strawberry or blueberry picking! Make sure to check their Facebook page for updates before you go. Picking berries is a fun activity for the whole family! (Note: Please be prepared to pay by cash or check only.

Attend the Wine & Brine Lounge on Saturday and Sundays at the Williamsburg Winery! The Wine & Brine Lounge is open from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturdays and from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sundays. This week’s featured oysters are Fat n’ Happy Oyster Co.

Take a farm tour at Fox Wire Farm Alpacas. Fox Wire Farm is made up of approximately 200 acres of farmland, pastureland, woods and creeks and is the home to some of the happiest alpacas around. There are tours available twice a day from 9:15-11:30 a.m. and 1:15-3:30 p.m. All tours are available by appointment only by calling 757-218-4520.

York River State Park

Get away from the bright lights of the city and spend an evening with us looking at the night sky on Friday, May 26 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. with Canoeing with the Stars. For an added touch, we’ll enjoy it from a canoe! Whether you’re an expert on the stars and planets or a novice, you’ll still enjoy this peaceful trip on the creek. One experienced canoeist per canoe required. Reservations are required. Canoes $13/person or $8/person (family 4+).  Prepayment required with reservation by calling 757-566-3036.

Explore the beautiful wetlands or river with Pick Your Paddle on Saturday, May 27 from 10 a.m. until noon. You may even encounter a variety of wild creatures! Learn something new and exciting as you paddle up the creek or down the river.  And don’t worry, we provide you with a paddle of your choice (canoe or kayak). Taskinas Creek and the York River are so rich in their resources and we’ll teach you ways to protect them. Cost. Canoes $9/person or $6/person (family of 4+), solo kayak $16/person, tandem kayak $11/person. Prepayment required with reservation by calling 757-566-3036.

Can you tell the difference between a venomous and non-venomous snake? Attend Roaming Ranger from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, May 27. Do you know what fish osprey feed on?  Have you ever observed where great blue heron nest?  The Roaming Ranger will be around to point out these and other points of interest in the park. 

Long before there was a York River State Park, or even a York River, 6,000 plus years ago, marine creatures swam here in a shallow sea. Attend the Fossil Frenzy on Saturday, May 27 from 4-6 p.m. Early whales, porpoises, sharks, clams, scallops, and snails all left traces of their existence which we now find as fossils. Join us in discovering relics of these very old creatures as we hike to a fossil beach.  No Cost. Please call 757-566-3036 to make reservations.

Join the Virginia Peninsula Astronomy Stargazers for a night of wonder and discovery on Saturday, May 27 from 8-11:45 p.m. Away from the city lights, the broad cliffs above the York River are perfect for observing constellations, planets, and other features in the night sky. There is no fee for this program.

Enjoy the As Far as the Stars Night Hike on Saturday, May 27 from 8:30-10 p.m. What roams the woods after dark? Take a ranger guided tour with us to experience the sights and sounds after sundown. Enjoy the cooler temperatures with the sounds of raccoons, owls, and other creatures. After the hike, enjoy stargazing with the Virginia Peninsula Astronomy Club. Attend River Seining from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, May 28. Seine nets have been used for ages to catch fish and other creatures in the Chesapeake Bay and its tributary rivers.  Our rangers will lead you in discovering the variety of aquatic life in the York River with seine and dip nets.

Dabble in Discovery from 4-5 p.m. on Sunday, May 28. Which came first, the gray fox or the red?  Does a crab keep its shell forever?  Can box turtles swim?  For the answer to these and other questions about the natural world, dabble in discovery with the onsite naturalist.

As the colors of sunset fall on the marsh, a variety of sounds can be heard from birds and other creatures.  Enjoy the beauty of this special time on the water with a guided paddling trip on Sunday, May 28 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.  Canoes are $9/person or $6/person (family of 4+), solo kayaks are $16/person, and tandem kayaks are $11/person.  Please call 757-566-3036 for reservations.  Prepayment required with reservation.
