The County's 3 Convenience Centers offer separated recycling drop-off and trash disposal. Most recyclables, including paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and jugs, glass bottle and jars, aluminum and tin, antifreeze, kitchen grease, motor oil, propane tanks (20 lb. max), lead-acid batteries, scrap metal and appliances made of 50% metal are free to drop off. However, brush, electronics including flat screen monitors, CPUs and laptops, and tires will require on-site payment.
Trash disposal requires on-site payment. Payments can be made with credit cards or coupons ($4 each; sold in books of 5 online or from the following locations: Treasurer’s Office, Satellite Services Office, James City County Recreation Center, Abram Frink Jr. Community Center). The Jolly Pond Convenience Center also offers natural woody debris, leaf, construction/demolition debris, and bulky item disposal for a fee.
Browse the map below to find the convenience center closest to you or select from the "Accepted Items" menu to filter the convenience centers that will accept your recyclables.
